The grand launching of SIGLABAY (SIGla at LAkas ng BAYanihan) – an initiative dedicated to enhancing disaster preparedness, particularly in relation to earthquakes, at the barangay level – marks a significant milestone toward the development of a safer and more resilient community. Spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Bulacan, the event successfully gathered representatives from the Municipalities, Barangays, the Philippine National Police, and the Bureau of Fire Protection to strengthen coordination, enhance knowledge, and reinforce response capabilities in times of disaster. The activity exemplified the spirit of bayanihan, showcasing the essential role of every sector in safeguarding the lives and livelihoods of the citizens. The SIGLABAY program further emphasizes that disaster preparedness is not the sole responsibility of a select few, but a collective obligation shared by the entire community — from local government units and uniformed services to every individual citizen. Through sustained training initiatives and continued inter-agency collaboration, the community’s capacity to effectively confront and overcome natural hazards is significantly strengthened.
